Gençlerbirliği:0 Beşiktaş:0

Beşiktaş has taken on Gençlerbirliği in the 3rd round of the Turkish Super League at 19 Mayıs Stadium Ankara. The match has ended in a nil all draw.

The match began with both teams trying to play controlled. As Gençlerbirliği tightened the defence, Beşiktaş seemed a tad more dominant.
In the first half most of the game was played within the opponents half.
During the second half, Beşiktaş again seemed to be a tad higher in posession however failed to create a gaol position. Gençlerbirliği found their way around the Beşiktaş defence on more than one occasion but failed to capatilise. Overall, in my opinion, it was a terrible game of football.

Beşiktaş: Hakan Arıkan, Sivok, Ferrari, Erhan (46min Rıdvan), İbrahim Üzülmez (79min İsmail Köybaşı), Ernst, Fink (46min Nobre), Uğur, Tello, Holosko, Nihat

BEŞİKTAŞ and the others

Beşiktaş, within its 106 years, has been the first to accomplish many things. This time, the cause was one that proved Beşiktaş is the peoples team. After the Turkish Football Federation announced that players names are to be written under their numbers, most of our opponents chose to print names of multi million dollar companies on their jerseys. WE decided to have The Turkish Red Cresent logo free of charge.
Our football team carried the Red Cresent logo on thier jerseys during the clash between Antalyaspor. This was done to create awareness of the importance of this organisation to the Turkish community. The Red Cresent is a charity organiation aimed at helping citizens that are in need. Beşiktaş's supporter group Çarşı had also teamed up with The Red Cresent many times before for blood donation events.

This is what we expect from the Beşiktaş board. To be socially aware and responsible. We hope that positive actions as such continue and the board dont change their minds to become one of the sheep in the herd. HALKIN TAKIMI BEŞİKTAŞ !

Beşiktaş defeated Antalyaspor in the 2nd week clash of the TSL at Inonu Stadium. The match was held behind closed doors to fans due to the ban they received last season. Our goals came from Holosko in the 73rd minute and from Tello in the 78th minute.

The Black Eagles wore jerseys that read 'Turk Kizilayi' on the back which is the 'Turkish Red Cross(Cresent)'.

The match kicked-off after a 1minute of silence for those who had lost their lives in the earthquake that occured in Turkey on the 17th of August 1999.

Top ten football stadiums

Beşiktaş İnönü stadium has been ranked 4th in the Top Ten Football Stadium conducted by Times Online. The location that İnönü is at was a major factor, but ofcourse the great atmoshpere couldnt have been missed.

Heres what they had to say;

4: Inonu Stadium

You can make a case for the Sükrü Saracoglu and the Ali Sami Yen, homes of Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray respectively, but Besiktas’s ground wins the day by virtue of its magnificent location. If they get bored, the fans behind one end can look across the Bosphorus to Asia. But their boys don’t get bored, to judge from the row they kick up. Brilliant atmosphere and a setting that’s unbeatable.

The old jerseys

I don't know what it is about the old jerseys, but they are definetly my favourites.
I think it has a little to do with the way that they were kept quite pure and not covered with as many sposnsors as they are today. Another factor must be the success or the legendary players that these jerseys relate to. For me, some of these jersey remind me of legends such as, Pascal Nouma, Nihat Kahveci and Mehmet Ozdilek (Sifo).

Either way, I'm loving these tops and am quite keen on finding them.
However, I would like to state that my all time fantasy jersey would be one without any sponsor names written on it in present times.

Not Acceptable !

A few weeks ago, the club suprised the fans when they had agreed on a new sponsorship from Turk Telecom and Avea. The suprising part was that these companies would have their logos painted in large dimensions on the roof of the 'legendary kapali tribun' (grand stand). This would have to be the 2nd biggest blow that has hit the veterans of the terrace. The fisrt one was when BOX seats were built amongst the top row.

Some people have to understand that this terrace has alot more history behind it then any of these companies, who think that they can buy anything from anyone. During a pre-season match at home this year, some of fans put forward their stance against these advertisments. 'The roof of the grand stand must remain Black & White' was one of the slogans.

Now, the other suprising decision was that the club had actually listened to the fans and acted accordingly. The recent decision made about the advertisments were satisfiying for some fans but definetly not for many. The part the club has listned to the fans was keeping the roof Black & White. However, the company names still reamain, only this time they have also been painted up in Black & White.

Having the roof Black & White is the way it should be. But that roof should remain Black & White with nothing written or drawn on it but BEŞİKTAŞ. These people have to get the heads out of somewhere and realise that places or things valued by the fans must be respected! I ask these corporates to do the right thing and remove those ugly logos from the home of the most passionate supporters of the country. And they must realise that, many veterans of the grand stand have either lost blood or their lives in order to create what they have today. Most importantly, the club should be aware of the value the grand stand has both amongst the fans and the players.

I do not accept anything as such on my behalf and demand those logos to be removed!

ONLY BEŞİKTAŞ !

The coloured advertisment

Either way not acceptable!
